In a recent story in the Poughkeepsie Journal, the Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program highlights some of the most recent drinking and driving arrest data in their region.
It’s certainly not something we want to hear, that a County so close to home is ranked the highest for DWI arrests. The Hudson Valley has been ranked number 1 and 2 in New York when it comes to DWI arrests. Ulster County is the top New York County for DWI arrests, Duchess County comes in second.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Michael Hill, director of the drunk driver program at Dutchess Community College addressed a gathering of police officers and other law enforcement officials during the annual Law Enforcement Award Ceremony sponsored by the Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program.
Hill explained that by analyzing the populations of all of the counties in New York State and comparing that to number of alcohol related driving arrests Ulster County was is the top New York County for DWI arrests. Duchess comes in second.
